What is Pragmatism?

The reading for this week is a lecture by William James on the school of philosophical thought he founded, “pragmatism.” It’s called “What Pragmatism Means.” The theme is the general procedure by which a pragmatist approaches the basic philosophical questions. We can ask whether he’s consistent in his explanation, and also question how pragmatic pragmatism really is, and in what ways we can apply it to daily life.
